What is the best dog breed for someone with allergies?
Dog Allergies
It is important to remember that some individuals with a dog allergy will react to any breed of dog. They can react to the saliva, dander or fur and even to the foods that the dog is eating.
No breed is 100% ‘hypoallergenic’ and it is a good idea for those with allergies to temporarily foster a dog, to see how things go and to ensure their allergies don’t flare up.
Hypoallergenic Breeds
Some dogs are less likely to cause issues than others, and these are often called the ‘hypoallergenic’ breeds. The most popular of these is the Poodle and its crosses, including the Cavapoo and Labradoodle. Their curly coat does not shed much.
Some other possible options include the Maltese, Shih Tzu and Havanese.
